Large-scale epidemiological studies have demonstrated effectiveness of mammographic screening (early stage of diagnostic, less aggressive treatment, better cosmetic results), however benefits are still the subject to debate. The author presents different opinions concerning the real impact of screening and modern treatment methods in breast cancer mortality decrease as a result of screening.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>В представленной статье обсуждаются вопросы эффективности маммографического скрининга в различных странах мира. Наряду с несомненными положительными результатами скрининга, такими как снижение смертности от рака молочной железы, обнаружение образований на ранних стадиях, дальнейшее менее агрессивное лечение, улучшенные косметические результаты, отмечаются неблагоприятные факторы. К ним относятся гипердиагностика, ложноположительные заключения, гиперлечение.
